Description
The Big Leaf Maple is the largest maple species in North America, native to the Pacific Coast from Alaska to California. Its enormous lobed leaves -- sometimes over a foot across -- turn vivid gold and orange in autumn, transforming creek sides and forest understories into something spectacular. In spring, it drapes itself in long clusters of yellow-green flowers before the canopy fills in. A deciduous tree with a quiet, seasonal drama all its own.
