Our Story

A black and white photo of artist Laura Christine Cunningham

I’m Laura Christine Cunningham, the soul and hands behind The Potted Pixel. I’m a digital artist and maker whose work is rooted in art, nature, authenticity, and the quiet moments that slow life down. I’ve long been drawn to creative expression. For me, drawing plants — and the world they live in — isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s a ritual of calm and connection that helps me slow down and bring intention into each piece I create.

After years working in corporate marketing and tech, I was unexpectedly let go — a turning point that became one of the most defining moments of my life. Instead of seeing it as a setback, I took it as a chance to step fully into the thing I’d always made time for on the side: my art. That moment pushed me to build this business, and it’s been a journey of growth, honesty, and creation ever since.

Today, I’m the primary artist behind most of the pieces you’ll find here — from hand-illustrated prints to designs inspired by plants, forests, and the small wonders of everyday life. Each of my illustrated works is created with a focus on grounding simplicity and thoughtful detail — an invitation to pause, notice, and reconnect.

As The Potted Pixel has grown, so has its purpose.

Alongside my own artwork, I also curate a small selection of nature-inspired products and artwork from other makers whose work aligns with the heart of this brand. These pieces are chosen with care and intention, selected to complement my illustrated work and expand the collection while maintaining a cohesive, nature-rooted aesthetic.

Whether it’s an original illustration, a thoughtfully designed paper good, or a curated item from another artist, everything here is chosen with the same goal in mind: to bring beauty, calm, and nature into everyday life.

Thank you for being part of this journey and for supporting independent art and design.
